What this site is

Amsha provides astronomical and astrological calculators based on classical Jyotisha texts. It is offered for cultural, educational and entertainment purposes.

Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is medical, psychological, legal, financial or investment advice, and nothing here should be used in place of a qualified professional. If you are making a decision about your health, your money or your legal position, consult someone licensed to advise you on it.

We make no guaranteed predictions about any outcome, and no result produced by these calculators should be treated as a statement of fact about the future.

The AI assistant

The assistant answers questions about Vedic astrology and nothing else. It will decline other subjects, and it will decline to read a chart for a third party, a public figure or an event.

It does not calculate anything. Every position, period and figure it refers to is worked out by this site’s own engine in your browser and handed to it, and the same figures are printed underneath each answer. If a number is not in that table, the assistant did not have it. Where an answer states a classical rule, it cites the text and verse it comes from, and where this site has not traced a rule to a text it says so instead of guessing.

The wording of an answer is produced by a language model, and language models get things wrong. Treat the figures under an answer as the reliable part and the prose around them as an explanation that is worth checking. If the two ever disagree, the figures are right.

The assistant is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind, and everything in the section above about advice, predictions and health applies to it in full.

Health and remedies

This site does not claim that any gemstone, ritual, mantra, yantra, donation or other remedy can diagnose, cure, prevent or treat any disease or condition. It does not offer remedies for sale.

Prohibited uses

This site does not offer, and must not be used to attempt, determination or prediction of the sex of an unborn child. Doing so is a criminal offence in India under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act 1994.

You also agree not to use the site to harass, defame or profile another person, or to attempt to interfere with the operation of the site or the devices of other visitors.

Accuracy

Calculations are performed to a high astronomical standard and the specification page states exactly which models are used, so results can be independently checked. Even so, the site is provided as is, with no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for any particular purpose.

Results depend entirely on the accuracy of the birth details you enter. A birth time that is wrong by a few minutes can change the ascendant and every house-based conclusion drawn from it.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from decisions you take based on its output. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Intellectual property

The calculation engine, interface and written content on this site are our own work. Sanskrit source texts are in the public domain. Where a rule is drawn from a classical text such as the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the underlying rule is public domain knowledge, and any wording used here is our own rather than reproduced from a copyrighted modern translation.

You may use the results the calculators produce for any purpose, including commercial work. You may not copy the site itself wholesale.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
