What is a divisional chart?

A varga divides every sign into equal parts and maps those parts back onto a whole zodiac, so a single birth moment yields many charts. The navamsa divides each sign into nine, the dasamsa into ten, and so on. Each division is traditionally read for one department of life rather than for everything at once.

Which chart should I read first?

D-1, the rasi, for the shape of the life as a whole. D-9, the navamsa, for marriage and for how much strength a planet really carries. D-10, the dasamsa, for career and standing. Beyond those, each division has its own subject, given under its name when you select it.

Which ayanamsa is used?

Accepted Answer

Lahiri, also called Chitrapaksha, by default. Krishnamurti, B. V. Raman, Sri Yukteshwar and Fagan/Bradley are also available, and changing it recomputes every position and every division. Houses are whole sign.

Why do my positions differ slightly from another site?

Almost always one of three things: a different ayanamsa, the mean node instead of the true node, or a different assumption about the time zone in force on that date. Set those three the same and the figures agree. This tool states all three rather than hiding them, so the comparison can actually be made.

What does vargottama mean?

A planet holding the same sign in the rasi chart and in the navamsa. It is marked in the tables. Classical texts treat it as a sign of stability in what that planet governs, and the tool reports it as a fact of position, not as a prediction.

How accurate is the engine?

Accepted Answer

The ephemeris is analytic and self-contained, validated against Meeus worked examples: the Moon under one arcsecond, the Sun about fifteen, the other planets between a fifth of an arcminute and two arcminutes. That is comfortable through D-30. Above it, cells narrow to half an arcminute or less, so a two arcminute error can put a body one cell out.

Is my birth data sent anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. This calculator has no server to send it to. The whole calculation runs in this page, in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored. Saved charts stay in this browser's own storage and are never transmitted. The AI assistant elsewhere on the site is the one feature that contacts a server, and it is never sent a birth date, time or place either; the privacy page sets out exactly what it does send.
